Taking Off from Tenzing Hillary Airport, Tenzing-Hillary Airport (IATA: LUA, ICAO: VNLK), also known as Lukla Airport, is a small airport in the city of Lukla, in Khumbu, Solukhumbu District, Sagarmatha Zone, Eastern Nepal.

In January 2008, the airport was renamed in honor of Sir Edmund Hillary and Sherpa Tenzing Norgay, the first people to reach the summit of Mount Everest and also marked their efforts in building the airport. The surrounding land, the thin air, the changeability of the air, and the short, sloping runway make landing at this airport one of the most challenging landings in the world.

The History Channel program Most Extreme Airports ranked it the “most extreme” airport in the world
